Had been to a performance of ‘Draupathi Kuravanji’ kattai-k-kooththu, under the aegis of Shraddha Theaters, this evening.
Completely floored. It is a different theater experience altogether.

Use of body language, creation and management of space, suthradhars bringing in a contemporary perspective time and again and more than anything an overall enjoyment by all the participant young boys and girls in portraying their roles effortlessly, the perfect coordination on stage, entry and exit of each character, the smooth integration of background singing and instrumental music with the goings on on stage… it was just awesome.
this troupe has humbled me (and most other friends too, I daresay!). Their theatre is far more progressive, modern and communicative than what we do.
