This is quite atrocious!
Ministers, opposition leaders and top bureaucrats in New Delhi live in Category 8 bungalow on six acres, with accommodation for 17 servants, including a separate house most likely worth many millions of dollars. The accommodation comes at near-zero rent always. Ex PMs and presidents are eligible for the benefits till death.
In a country where a 6 member family crawls in a 600 sq.feet dingy hole otherwise called a ‘Flat’ or in hutments on encroached land, this luxury extended to a select few is deplorable.
The laws should ebe revised to correct this anomaly as follows:
1) The VVIPs will be allocated apartments in secured apartment complexes, based on the size of their immediate families. For the definition of family, in-laws will not be included as well as married daughters and major sons.
2) They have to get their own cooks, drivers, house maids – total not more than 3 and pay wages, not more than Rs 10,000 each. The amount will be reimbursed as a direct credit to their Aadhar linked bank accounts. The ministers and opposition leaders are hereby encouraged to attend to their own household chores themselves, now that the Parliament hardly functions with the sessions getting stalled for one reason or other.
3) No office work assistants will be provided to the ministers etc in their apartments. The VVIPs are expected to become techno savvy and send through encrypted email any correspondence to their office through the secured gateway provided by the Government. The VVIPs are encouraged to use the standard conferencing facilities like Skype for their daily interactions which do not involve any sharing of confidential information. These conversations will be taped by the concerned ministries for audit purposes.
4) Ministers and other VVIPs should not sub let their tenements.
5) Ministers and other VVIPs with large families will be provided with 4 bed room apartment (maximum); others will be granted 1/2/3 bed room apartments according to the size of their direct family.
