Cartoonist Aseem’s arrest is unwarranted, that too on a Sunday. It shows the extreme paranoia of the Government in encountering criticism.
Having said that, I cannot deny the fact that intellectual arrogance and megalomania would have made Aseem go overboard when he could have observed propriety.
It is definitely wrong to depict Parliament as a commode.
Parliament can summon and reprimand him for that and leave it at that.
The cartoon of national emblem is not offensive at all of course.

Judiciary may be forthright in voicing their opinion and so is the fourth estate. The right is conferred upon every citizen of this nation.
But activism is a new phenomenon which is observed to permeate all spaces.
‘Me, the supreme’ appears to be the mantra. Anyone skilled in any art or literary form can think the whole world is at their foot and can recklessly go on like a bull in a china shop.
As we have to bear the burden of a wretched sarkar, we are also invariably carrying the intelligentsia like Sindbad carrying the old man of the sea. Is there a journey’s end in sight? I don’t think so. If one MMS goes, another MMS or NaMo may replace him. And the intelligentia will be safely perched on new shoulders kicking and goading them to move on!

There are no words to describe the obscene and repulsive nature of the cartoon that was published in the Sri Lankar newspaper Lakbima portraying Tamilnadu CM and the Indian PM. Indecency at its nadir. The cartoonist deserves our condemnation.
அசீம் திரிவேதியின் கார்ட்டூன்களுக்காக அவரைக் கைது செய்ததை நானும் எதிர்க்கிறேன்.
எனினும் அவருடைய ‘நாடாளுமன்றம்’ – கழிப்பறை கேலிச் சித்திரத்தை நான் விரும்பவில்லை.
நம் எதிர்ப்பு நாடாளுமன்றம் என்ற மக்களாட்சியின் மகத்தான அமைப்பு குறித்து இல்லை.
அங்கே அனுப்பப் படுகிறவர்கள் தவ்று செய்தால் ‘கழிவறை உலகம் செய்தீர்’ என்று கண்டிப்பது சரிதான். அமைப்பையே அவமதிக்கலாகாது.
